Craft Alert: Avocado Avalanche (Five-Minute Sticker Art)

Avocados migrate as wild packs of herds or flocks or avocolonies—or whatever the group name is—sometimes, to pursue artistic and leisurely endeavors. At least, that’s the impression a sticker pack gave me the other day. And, June is California Avocado Month, so I decided to freshen up the craft page with a little five-minute craft that takes no time at all because someone else did most of the work by creating such cute stickers. (Thank you, Pipstickers by Pipsticks, Mo Vázquez.)

Just look at those avocados go! They’re hydrating themselves, painting, cheering, roller skating, talking on a retro phone, and eating some kind of treat—and I just can’t get enough of their squishy little adorable faces.

So I ripped them from their sticker-backing “homes” and stuck them on a decorative square of paper that is avocado in color, and now, I’m hoping someone who makes kitchen tiles will see this and make a million tiles of these, for me.

Or, I could just frame this one and hang it above the refrigerator for now as a reminder that avocados are yummy, cute, and just so rad.

This craft goes well with

–A bucket of guacamole (but don’t eat guacamole in front of the avocados for obvious reasons)

–A bare wall that needs a boost of something

–A trough of tortilla chips (but don’t point the tip of the triangle at the avocados—they’ll feel attacked)

–The front door—with a sign above that says Peace, Guac & Roll

–A picture of a cat drinking a margarita with a caption that says, “It’s Five O’ Guac Somewhere”

Your Turn: How would you celebrate Avocado Month?

  1. I reckon you could create an app for smartphones and tablets with zombie avocados out on a hunt for human flesh. The only way to kill the zombie avocado is to mash the flesh and make smashed avocado for toast and butter.

    1. Thanks! I can’t wait for olive season–they don’t grow here in Washington state, that I know of–it’s a California thing, but I might order some in October.

  2. Bizarre and apropos that I’m reading this while eating a salad with avocado and sitting in my home on a street named Avocado in CA in June. Cute stickers. Love the last suggestion the best! 🙂
