A LEGO rose by any other name would smell like victory—and sounds like this: thwip, thwip, thwip, as the plastic stems and shoots just slide together and take shape. So I’ll break out the gold stars and take a whiff of sweet, sweet success. LEGO horticulture is growing on me for sure.
I also have to thank my son Alex, who just decided, on a whim, to get me a LEGO rose kit while he was out shopping. I think he was secretly hoping I’d need his help. I didn’t this time, but I only made one of the two roses, so he could put together the other. (I suspect the rose I made wants a friend.)
The flower I put together is the perfect complement to my LEGO daffodils, and if I keep this up, I will have a whole garden buzzing with LEGO bees and a LEGO watering can that spills forth nourishing blue blocks. (Mmm, refreshing!)
Besides LEGO bees, this rose pairs well with:
- Cakes covered in circular bumps and tubes
- Mini-figure magicians who need something to pull from their sleeves
- Brick-loads of champagne-colored pieces parts
- A clear vase filled with mini-figure caterpillars
- A snap-decision wedding
Your Turn: What’s an activity you find relaxing?
Walking along an empty beach!

This is such a charming and creative take on LEGO horticulture! The way you’ve brought the rose to life with humor and vivid imagery is delightful—especially the idea of a buzzing LEGO garden and a block-spilling watering can. It’s heartwarming that your son Alex sparked this fun project, and I love how you’ve turned it into a shared experience.
As for relaxing activities, I’d say writing whimsical responses like this is definitely up there! How about you—what’s next in your LEGO garden? 🌹✨

Thank you so much! Writing whimsical responses IS relaxing. Hmmmm I’ve seen a cactus project, so I’m thinking about that one next!

I have a bouquet of Lego flowers, two sunflowers and an orchid which drove me mad while I was trying to get it finished before those who gave it to me came to visit. My birthday chrysanthemum is still in the box…

The bouquet sounds lovely! I saw the orchid box in a store once and thought it did look like one of the more difficult projects. Cheers!

The bouquet looks surprisingly real, even though my Lego mad grandson pointed out the leaves were actually pterodactyl wings in his set!

I didn’t know that there were Lego flowers! Wow. They didn’t have that when I was a kid. Walking or doing puzzles are activities that relax me. 😊

Walking is definitely relaxing for me–as long as I’m not trying to put together a LEGO set while doing so. 🙂

We got our daughter a Lego flower kit for Christmas because the Tuxedo Cat kit was out of stock. Then two weeks ago, I was able to finally get her the Tuxedo Cat—it’s incredible!
