Blast your imagination into hyperdrive! Bring spring to outer space with a craft that’s five minutes tops if you’re laser focused.
From the control panels in your spaceship (your crafting cabinet, nook, drawer, or closet), gather the following supplies:
–Craft paper with a star/space/planet theme already on it
–Craft paper with spring colors and/or designs
–Some kind of adhesive (glue, tape, whatever)
–Scissors
Then, just fire those engines and get crafting! Cut the spring-patterned/themed paper into any shapes you like and glue, tape, or staple them onto the space paper.
Pro-Tip: Before gluing, experiment with where you want to place the shapes first. Then, just go for it, and if it doesn’t work out, they’ll probably just look like they’re floating in space, which is good in this case.
Five Fun Things You Can Do with This Craft:
–Frame it and hang it on the wall as an inspiring background for virtual meetings or calls.
–Gift it to your favorite astronaut who also happens to love spring. (Consider it a gift for the astronaut who has everything…except this.)
–Make more of them as placemats for a garden party table setting that’s also space themed.
–Roll it into a tube to serve as a festive “telescope” for viewing actual stars at night.
–Imagine the spring shapes are planets—and you get to name them! (Let the names come to you spontaneously. In other words, don’t planet. If Skadillly Doodle Star 35.3 is the first thing that comes to mind, it was meant to be.)
Your Turn: What are your plans for spring?

Hi Cecilia,
I like that this craft idea can be adapted for inner space too noting some of the patterns could reflect what is happening at the bottom of the earth’s oceans too. For that manner seeing some of the patterns in your photographs, it could be intracellular protoplasm craft noting one pattern looked like a mobile genetic element (also known as viruses). 🦠

I try, but it’s a real challenge in the TX summer heat.

There is a laminate you could use to cover (laminate) your works to make them waterproof and then use them as creative placemats. Just a thought.

Oh my goodness. Favorite lines: “tape, glue, whatever” and “In other words, don’t planet.” Ah, the fun and the pun!
